La Cultura Cura – The Importance of Culture as a Tool for Healing with YMOC
Groups around the country are emphasizing the use of culture and history in their efforts to improve health and opportunity for boys and young men of color. From the use of sweat lodges and talking circles to engage Native and Latino communities to teaching about civil rights history of the Southeast with Black young men, it is clear that culture and history are crucial in positive identity formation and healing. This session will showcase efforts from the Southeast and Southwest U.S. that are modeling the use of culture in YMOC work.
