Invest/Divest: Local Transformation Through Rethinking Investment Priorities
Communities across the country are struggling to take advantage of the recent surge in energy and new political opportunities while holistically addressing the interconnected, systemic challenges that communities face. Using successful examples of local political campaigns from New York to Los Angeles, this session will highlight a powerful and untapped strategy that leverages public dollars to support initiatives and programs ensuring the success, strength, and safety of young people of color. This will be an interactive brainstorming and strategy-sharing workshop, with breakout sessions that will include resources on how to leverage youth-led participatory research to advocate for reinvestment, and how to build coalitions across movements and issue areas with the aim of creating a transformational vision of change.
