An Intersectional/Coalition Building Approach to Improving Outcomes for BMOC
For decades BMOC have been disproportionately impacted by the criminal justice system. Whether it’s mass incarceration or police brutality, the systems targeting BMOC need to be reformed. To effectively combat these criminal justice attacks, BMOC will have to build strong and authentic allies with women, the LGBTQ community, immigrant populations, and the labor community. Coalition-building and intersectional policy and organizing techniques will be key to improving outcomes. Progressive change will only come through honest discourse that works to engage and include other marginalized communities that are also under systemic attack.
